We had the pleasure of shooting Vanessa Alexander's family home in Bonsall Canyon, Malibu, in collaboration with Finca Journal. Over five days, we meticulously captured every detail of the property, using both photography and videography to tell the story of this unique space.

We began with an entire day focused on the exteriors, highlighting the home’s ebony facade, treated with shou sugi ban, nestled beneath the shade of oak and maple trees. The following day, we shifted to the lifestyle aspect, photographing the Alexander family and documenting how the house seamlessly complements their daily lives. The third day centered on the expansive yard, capturing the natural beauty and peaceful ambiance that surrounds the home. The final two days were dedicated to the interiors, where we worked to showcase the home’s blend of warmth, elegance, and functionality, with attention to the stunning craftsmanship and thoughtful design details.

Throughout the shoot, we worked with both photo and video simultaneously, ensuring every moment was covered from multiple angles. We also incorporated timelapses during different parts of the day, capturing the changing light and the interaction between the house and its natural surroundings.

The result was a visual narrative that showcased not only the architecture and design of the home but also the connection the family has with the space, set against the beautiful backdrop of Bonsall Canyon. It was an honor to bring Vanessa’s vision to life through our lens.
