Set in Mallorcan, Santanyi, Arturo+Lauren took on the daringly unique hideaway that is Hotel Can Ferrereta. With a 17th-century sleek meets rustic edge, this luxurious hotel breathes as much of a welcoming air as it does culture. Right away there is a dazzling awakening of inspirational beauty spoken through the artistic culture of the local artisans and artworks present. The serene atmosphere of the hotel sings its own song of tranquility and with every note, it offers something special for its guests to enjoy. It is these specialties that the clients of Majestic Hotel Group have tasked the duo to capture through photo and video.

As a way of expressing the majestic experience of the newly built Hotel Can Ferrereta, the clients knew that their marketing concept needed to go beyond the simplicity of renderings in their storytelling efforts. The clients wanted to invest in Arturo+Laurens’ years of background and skill, understanding the value and importance of what great photography and videography can truly bring out of projects, especially those of this magnitude. For Majestic Hotel Group, this would be key for accomplishing their goals of substantial press coverage, pronounced branding, and the possibility of winning many awe-inspiring awards. With that, Arturo+Lauren were set to exude the expression of all the hotel had to offer, capturing every detail of the experience that would be met by any who set their eyes on it. From the stunning exposed beams to the rustic stone walls and sleek four-poster beds, each juxtaposed with furnishings in evermore soothing shades. Not to mention, the striking pool-blessed garden and splashes of color pulled in through the Spanish art. All coming together as beautiful evidence of this retreat’s agrarian heritage and fertile surroundings.

With the hotel opening being in just a few days, the pressure was on for the pair to bring the hotel to life through both photo and video and there could be no mistakes. For high-end projects like this one, utilizing a talented stylist was also a must. There needed to be excellent communication between them as the stylist and photographer, making sure that every item in the rooms and the restaurant would be perfectly placed to get those pristine shots.

As requested, the team would first view the previous renders and replicate them through photo and video, which would come as a great foundation for the angles and vision that were most important to their clients. Arturo+Lauren had to be sure that they would encapsulate the compelling scene of the hotel as their main character, leaving out any neighbors that could possibly distract viewers from such. However, they still needed to give voice to the stunning nature set outdoors - as part of the magic of the hotel is its harmonious relationship with the scenic old town atmosphere. As an art-oriented hotel, there were also hundreds of original art pieces from around the world present, with many pieces enclosed in glass coverings. To represent these renowned pieces, Arturo+Lauren had to shoot multiple exposures and flag the windows as a way of avoiding reflection in the glass.

Although this was not an architecture-oriented assignment, the duo notes that they find utilizing one-point perspective angles to be a wonderful way to display the hotel in a more simplistic and clean way. And for those more abstract images, the hotel’s staircase was such a delight visually for the pair, due to the way in which it organically created those details for them through the lens. It is here that playing with the shapes and unifying materials was a splendid example of truly having a creative eye for what is naturally captivating in the space already and bringing that to life for others to recognize just as they blissfully accomplished for their clients at Majestic Hotel Group.
