Following its renovation, W Hollywood brought a fresh, design-forward energy to the heart of Hollywood. Our goal was to capture that character across the hotel, from its dramatic public spaces to the rooftop pool, while working around the rhythms of a hotel that was already open and welcoming guests.

W Hollywood is a design-led hotel at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, where Los Angeles’ film and music history informs its lively, contemporary style. Reimagined by Rockwell Group, the hotel brings together a dramatic Living Room lobby, guest rooms, restaurants and bars, and a rooftop pool overlooking the Hollywood Hills.

We began photographing the lobby at 4 p.m., allowing the space to shift from daylight into evening. Its layered design reads differently as the light changes, but after dark the lobby takes on an almost nightclub-like atmosphere: dramatic, intimate, and full of energy. Photographing it through that transition helped us show both sides of the space.

For the penthouse, we wanted the room to feel as though it were floating above the city. At the rooftop pool, we started at sunrise, using the early light to bring out the vivid colors and details that make the space distinctive. From the pool bar to the restaurant, each setting had its own personality and visual language.

The shoot was planned around the hotel’s live operations, with timing and movement coordinated to photograph the spaces while guests continued to enjoy them. The result is a portrait of W Hollywood that reflects its bold design and changing atmosphere, from quiet morning light to a lively night in the lobby.
