ABOUT

In southwestern Switzerland, there thrives an entrancing town of restful luxury, Gstaad. A town adored for its pleasant tranquility and unsurpassed hospitality, Gstaad remains Switzerland’s most treasured location for all travelers seeking to enjoy the timeless feel that its romantic cabins and picturesque snow bring one to experience. In Berner Oberland, Gstaad there also flourishes one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, a significant component to why the town remains a popular destination as one of the finest ski resorts in the world. Arturo+Lauren were brought on by next-level developers, the E5 Group. Bringing their own expertise on to shoot photography and videography for two ski vacation homes in the mountain village of Lauenen in Gstaad. The photos and video were for the developer's portfolio and rentals named Chalet Valhalla. E5 Group describes Chalet Valhalla as, "the epitome of 21st-century Alpine property design."

  • Arturo+Lauren made it their mission to bring to life the charismatic charm of not just the Chalet Valhalla cabins, but the scenic environment in which they live. It is one of the many reasons the duo's company leads on such powerhouse creative works - their mastery to interpret not just the properties themselves but the property's own home and culture. Embracing that to visually tell a story of these designs without including the atmosphere in which they live would be a story incomplete. The clients themselves wanted to incorporate the beauty of the night’s starlit skies, asking the duo to capture its striking allure on video.

  • These Alpine gems were not without their challenges. To incorporate the starlit skies for one, required the duo to wait until they could find a moment where no light was present in the sky. There remained a significant contrast amidst the interior and exterior of the lodges due to the unique way the sun’s light beamed in the snow versus the darker tones of the wooden interior. Lastly, there were the timing aspects. In Northern Europe time unfolds at a faster pace, making the pairs available time to shoot the photos and video more condensed.

  • To be sure that each of these Alpine beauties would appear at their most sublime potential, Arturo+Lauren started off by rearranging the interior designs in the space, baring the classic beauty of each room through emphasizing their minimal yet lively elegance. This allows them to create the perfect composition for their shots at every angle. The shoots were done over the span of four days - two days for photography and two days for the cinematography. They used the different times of day to catch the winsome snow with various reflections highlighted. Bringing about more muted colors before sunrise and more vibrancy at daylight. Arturo+Lauren imposed the natural colors found in the wood of the homes by turning off the lights and chasing the natural sunlight instead, producing brighter, more vivid clarity of each space on film.

  • With a focus on evoking a pleasant sense of the project’s serene beauty, Arturo+Lauren gave life to breathtaking imagery and video for their developer clients at E5 Group. Choosing to capture the natural splendor of Gstaad’s own unique vivacity, blended with the mystique appeal of the design company’s classic Alpine lodge.
